Play Therapy
FamilyTimeTherapy

Play and creativity can have immediate impact on neural pathways and can improve personal and emotional wellbeing at any age.
-
Time Limited Play Therapy (12-24 week interventions – depending on need)
-
Long-Term therapeutic interventions where the pace and direction can be assessed together with the child and parents/carers throughout.
Elizabeth recommends Play Therapy work for children between 3-12 and Creative Counselling (including the use of art materials) for young people 12 and above. Creative expression, whether through talking or visual representation can be used to reflect on one’s inner world, express emotion and communicate conscious and unconscious processes at work.

PLAY THERAPY
Play therapy is a form of therapy generally used for children between the ages of 3 and 12. However ‘Play’ is important across our whole lifespan and therefore suitable for children, young people and adults alike where there is a need to process emotional distress, articulate problems and/or resolve traumatic experiences. The use of art materials, sand-tray and role-play are invaluable tools in play therapy, helping to access and re-discover one’s inner world, feelings and unconscious thoughts and drives. Play supports the safe exploration of difficult feelings and vulnerable sense of self through creativity and confidence cultivating experiences.
Play is a spontaneous, self-directed and shared experience in therapy - it is a process and not a product.
